The Inspiration to create this typeface came in Hermann Zapf’s mind when he was in Italy and he saw stone carvings from the time of Renaissance period. The Italian printing inspired him and he was amazed to see how letters have tremendous strokes without serifs on their end. His book names Alphabets contains only Optima typeface.
